A project manager with CDPQ says a new English version of the organization's web site will allow the rest of Canada easier access to swine research being conducted in Quebec.
CDPQ, the Swine Development and Innovation Centre in Quebec, contributes to the vitality of the Quebec pork sector through its services, knowledge transfer activities and involvement in research and development projects.
Last week representatives were on hand as part of the Banff Pork Seminar to promote the organization's new English web site.
Geneviève Berthiaume, a project manager in agricultural economics with CDPQ, says although the organization collaborates on research its main role is as an extension and innovation centre.

Everything that happens in Quebec, since it is in French, tends to stay in Quebec so we wanted to get the information in everything that we do in Quebec out there.
It also helps us to collaborate better with other provinces since we can collaborate in English and we can get information in English out there so all the reports that we work on will be put on that web site as well.
They'll be able to access pretty much everything that the CDPQ works on as far as innovation in genetics, in health, in meat quality and anything in economics.
All the research reports or the project reports that we work on will be put on the web site in French and in English so everyone will have access to the latest data from testing machinery to testing ideas for swine innovation always to go further in swine production.

Berthiaume notes by providing email addresses visitors to the web site can register to receive periodic updates and subscribers will be notified each time something new is posted.
She says the site can be accessed at cdpq.ca or through links posted on the sites of research organizations throughout Canada with whom CDPQ is partnered.
