Do More Ag Prepares to Launch Mental Health First Aid Training Program
Kim Keller - Do More Agriculture Foundation

Farmscape for September 4, 2018

The Do More Agriculture Foundation will begin accepting applications from rural communities for mental health first aid training under its community fund for mental health first aid this coming Monday.
The Do More Agriculture Foundation is planning to launch a project next week designed to offer mental health first aid training in rural communities across Canada.
Kim Keller, a Saskatchewan farmer and cofounder of the Do More Agriculture Foundation, says the training will be facilitated by mental health first aid trained facilitators and there are facilitators across Canada who are trained in delivering mental health first aid training.

Clip-Kim Keller-Do More Agriculture Foundation:
Mental health first aid is just like physical first aid.
It teaches people the signs and symptoms of someone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis and it teaches people how to respond until they're able to get that person either to their local emergency room or until help comes to them.
So mental health first aid certification training will be available to all farming communities across Canada.
In order to apply someone within the community has to be the lead organizer and be willing to organize the training and work with a facilitator that will be leading the mental health first aid training.
As long as the community that is receiving the training is an agriculture rural community they will be eligible.

Keller says the program will be officially launched September 10th at which time people can visit the foundation's web site at domore.ag and click on the "how to do more" link where they will be able to find more about the community fund for mental health first aid and the application form.
