Nominations Being Accepted for First Saskatchewan "Food & Farming Champion" Award
Adele Buettner - Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan

Farmscape for August 30, 2016

Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan is accepting nominations until the end of September  for its first "Food & Farming Champion" Award.
Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan is a whole sector provincial organization made up of farm families, agribusinesses, food processors, restaurant retailers, food companies and others dedicated to telling the story of farmers who grow the food that's on our tables and on tables around the world.
Adele Buettner, the CEO of Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan, says the "Food & Farming Champion" Award is a brand new initiative launched this year and the first award will be presented at the organization's annual conference in December.

Clip-Adele Buettner-Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan:
It's an opportunity for our industry to recognize a person or persons who's really worked hard to promote Saskatchewan agriculture and help build public trust with the non-farming community.
The Champion Award is presented to an individual or organizations or business who has really taken the initiative to help engage consumers about agriculture in our province.
It's open to either individuals or groups.
Nominees have used their own skills and their interest to help reach out to non-farmers and try to engage them in that conversation about how food is grown in our province.
That's really what we're looking for, are people that have taken that extra step to try to engage with our non-farming community.
Nominations can be submitted to our office, the Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan office by the end of September.
September 30 is the deadline.
There will be a selection committee who will review the nominees and select a winner.
Again they will be presented at our annual conference on December 15 in Saskatoon.

Buettner says nominations have already started coming in.
